Rennie upbeat after Wallabies' victory

With four tests under the belt, Wallaby head coach Dave Rennie toasted his first victory as the men in gold managed to put the All Blacks away 24-22 yesterday in Brisbane.

While it was a somewhat weakened All Black outfit – with the Bledisloe Cup already decided – Australia put up a valiant fight to post the win.

The Wallabies started well, dotting down in the third minute – Tom Wright running in the try on debut – before the All Blacks scored in the corner shortly thereafter.

The game became fourteen on fourteen as Ofa Tu'ungafasi and Lachlan Swinton were both shown red cards for high challenges.

The All Blacks took the lead in the 52^nd minute as their pack rumbled over the try-line but the Wallabies’ spirited fight back saw them home in the end.

“You don’t win the Bledisloe Cup by winning one and drawing one,” Rennie said.

“What it tells us is that if we work hard enough for each other we can get results against anyone.

“But it doesn’t count for much tonight unless we back it up against Argentina in a couple of weeks.”

The All Blacks face Argentina next weekend in Sydney as the second round of the Tri Nations gets underway.
