Quartet sign for Honda Heat

Honda Heat have confirmed the signing of four players, with three South Africans joining the club as well as a New Zealander. 

The Top League side have found a replacement for RG Snyman, who has joined Munster, with his fellow World Cup-winning Springbok second-rower Franco Mostert joining the side from Gloucester.

Mostert is joined by fellow South Africans' Matthys Basson and Jean-Luc du Plessis with Blues fullback Matt Duffie also signing with the club.


Former Melbourne Storm prodigy Matt Duffie returned to Auckland in 2016 to take up a two-year contract with the Blues & North Harbour. He made 7 appearances for the Blues in his debut season scoring 2 tries, he has been included in the Blues 2017 Super Rugby squad.

In 2017 Duffie earned a test debut with the All Blacks and has been a regular in both the North Harbour and Blues' squad. 


Stormers flyhalf Jean-Luc du Plessis signs for Honda Heat after troubles with injuries during his time in Cape Town with the playmaker even considering retirement. The playmaker joins his fellow South Africans in signing for Honda Heat. South African prop Basson joins from the Bulls in Pretoria who he joined after attending Boland Agricultural Basson. In 2017 he was named in the Blue Bulls Currie Cup squad and impressed during his debut season in the competition and earned a spot in the Bulls 2018 Super Rugby squad.
