Cardiff Blues secured only their second win of the season in what was a hard fought win against an inform Connacht side. With Connacht going into the weekend top of the Pro12 they were expected to secure an 8th win of the season but injuries to key players during the game had a huge effect on the Westerners with the Blues taking advantage with a Tom James try enough to see them end a 7 game losing streak.
A well contested game ended with a win for Gloucester. In what was a tight first half two tries in 6 minutes from Kalamafoni in the second half proved to be the difference with the Cherry and Whites securing their first league win since October. Sale will be disappointed to have only secured a losing bonus point with Danny Cipriani producing another fine performance and can count himself unlucky to be on the losing side.
In the second Pro12 game of the night Ulster got the better of Edinburgh with few positives to take from the game for the Irish Province as they lost key players to injury with the likes of Darren Cave and Iain Henderson forced off in the first half. Despite the injuries Ulster had a 14-0 lead as early as the 10 minute with Rory Scholes going over for the second try of the game after an early penalty try. Cornell Du Preez replied with a try in the second half but that was as good as it got for Edinburgh with Ulster hanging on for the win.
