Pro D2, Round 6 debrief

Pro D2, Round 6 debrief

The Corréziens are the new leaders of the championship, Yann David will soon be "three hundred years old" and Bellot offers victory to the Agenais in style... Here is the debrief of the 6th round of PRO D2.

THE ESSENTIAL > Oyonnax provides the essentials, Grenoble finds the fault late

At the start of this 6th round, the SUA did the job in Armandie . Collecting a valuable defensive bonus at the VRDR before the break, the Lot-et-Garonnais took the 4 points of success this time. However, they had to battle against solid Dacquois despite a good start and Ramoka's try. In the last fifteen minutes, when the teams were neck and neck, it was Bellot who finally freed his team with a great inspiration . Undecided match in Oyonnax where the Ain players were able to breathe after resisting the comeback of the Columérins who left Mathon with a defensive bonus. During the Multiplex, Grenoble was patient before turning the derby to its advantage. The VRDR remained in the race until the tries of Javakhia and Mouton in the last moments. The scoreboard was much less in demand during Soyaux-Angoulême – Provence where the two teams parted with a 6-6 draw .

Nice and Nevers get back on track
Nice took advantage of Mont-de-Marsan's visit to move up from last place in the standings . The Azuréens beat the Landais by two points thanks to a goal by Berenguel and then a penalty try.   Montauban continued its crazy rise by triumphing over Aurillac at Sapiac. Firmin, Reilhac, Notshe and Quercy were the architects of this success. Nevers regained confidence by winning at Pré-Fleuri against ASBH. Jaminet, Bouyssou and Plataret went to the promised land for a precious victory for the Burgundians. Finally, Brive put on a show of strength against Biarritz. The Corréziens won comfortably 31-13 to move to the top of the standings.

The stat > 299. Yann David the 300th “soon” packed

In PRO D2, there are historic clubs of French rugby, equally legendary stadiums and of course emblematic players. Among them, the center of Biarrtiz Olympique: Yann David . Against the CAB, tonight, the former international (4 selections) reached the bar of 299 professional matches . A nice total composed of matches of 42 PRO D2 matches, 214 TOP 14 and 53 European Cups. And the adventure is not ready to end because he extended until 2026 with the Basques .

The statement > Kevin Lebreton (captain and third line of Oyonnax)

"We are happy with the result. We will enjoy it tonight, we really need it even if we know that we must not get carried away because we have a big trip to Dax next week."

The image > Bellot, victory with style

The tension was at its peak between the SUA and the USD, who were tied as the last fifteen minutes ticked away. The moment was chosen by the incoming scrum-half, Dorian Bellot, to pull off a great move . Short-side start, wide bridge and 5-metre slide, on his head, into the in-goal area. With style, the Agenais managed to get around the thick defensive curtain from Dax, which had held firm until then. After this try, the game definitely tipped in favour of the locals.
