Priestland back in the Welsh jersey?

Rumours are circulating with the suggestion that 34 year-old Rhys Priestland could be back in the famous red Welsh jersey for the Six Nations.

Priestland has not played test match rugby since 2017 and has been prohibited from inclusion in the Welsh squad because of the 60-cap rule which allows players who ply their trade in foreign leagues to be picked for Wales only if they already have 60 caps to their name.

Priestland boasts 50 caps and has been with Premiership club Bath since 2015. However, he is set to join Cardiff Blues next season which puts him back in the running to play for his country again.

It is said that Priestland will be competing with Jarrod Evans for the third-choice fly-half berth. It will be interesting to see whether Head Coach Wayne Pivac will call upon his experience.
