- 1085
The Northampton Saints notched up their first Premiership win of the season as they edged Harlequins 25-18 in round 2. Harlequins opened the scoring with an early penalty, but the Saints kept the scoreboard ticking over, slotting three penalties to take a 9-3 lead into the break. An early second half penalty made it 12-3, but Harlequins then crossed for the games first try to reduce the deficit to just two points. The Saints hit back almost immediately with their first try restoring their nine point advantage at 19-10. A penalty pushed the hosts lead out to 12 points temporarily, with Harlequins kicking a penalty of their own to make it a nine point ball game with around 15 minutes remaining. Harlequins ran in their second try to close the gap to 22-18, but a late Saints penalty extended the lead to seven points. Harlequins had a chance at the death to snatch a draw, but it was not to be as Saints held on for a hard fought home victory.
