Player ratings - Lions vs Crusaders
- 8731
- Mako Vunipola 9/10
Vunipola was one of the standout players in what was a quality performance from the Lions. The bulky prop made some solid hits around the park and was a rock at scrum time.
- Jamie George 7/10
George was one of three who made up a fantastic front row performance. He threw well at line out time and contributed to a solid set piece performance.
- Tadhg Furlong 7/10
Similarly to Vunipola Furlong was an immovable object when it came to scrum time that meant the Lions won numerous penalties at scrum time.
- Alun-Wyn Jones 7/10
Jones played much better then he did last time out and looked much more energized. The line out was solid which helped put the Lions on the front foot.
- George Kruis 6/10
Kruis functioned well at line out time but in general was quiet enough around the park.
6.Peter O’Mahony 7/10
O’Mahony’s performance was quite impressive, he jumped well at the line out and was seen around the park putting in hits and offering himself up as an attacking option.
- Sean O’Brien 7/10
O’Brien was a powerhouse against the Crusaders. The big man made some huge hits and refused to allow the opposition to get any forward momentum meaning they were squeezed out of the game in attack.
8.Taulupe Faletau 8/10
Another sterling effort by Faletau, so powerful going forward and so athletic around the park, you have to imagine Faletau will be one of the first names on the team sheet to face the All Blacks after his two performances.
9.Conor Murray 8/10
Murray made a huge difference to the team; he orchestrated the attack and even got a couple of hits under his belt. His box kicks were accurate and his all round performance was top class.
- Owen Farrell 8/10
Farrell was seriously good; he registered 4/5 kicks scoring all of the Lions points. Farrell moved to 12 early on and a partnership between him and Johnny Sexton could be something that causes the Kiwis some problems.
- Liam Williams 6/10
Williams was better then what we saw against the Blues and was unfortunate in what he tried failed to come off. We know how good he is and he is capable of more then what we have seen.
- Ben Te’o 7/10
Te’o was his usual physical self, carrying well and solid in defense. Te’o moved to 13 early on in the game and looked to be at home in that position, food for thought for Gatland going forward.
- Jonathan Davies N/A
Davies unfortunately was forced off early on with a head injury.
- George North 7/10
In attack North didn’t do too much however he gets a 7 for his quality performance in defense. North seemed unbeatable out wide and was comfortable under the high ball.
15. Stuart Hogg N/A
Hogg was forced off after running into Murray’s elbow.
Honorable mentions from the bench
- Jonny Sexton 7/10
Sexton was class when he came on, he has featured in all three games so far and today was by far his best. As mentioned before the partnership between him and Farrell is something we’d love to see more of.
- Anthony Watson 7/10
Watson made a huge impact when he came on, playing at 15 he was a dangerous runner and with the possibility of Hogg being out Watson could very well start ahead of Halfpenny after todays performance.
