Our Picks For Champions Cup Quarters

Our Picks For Champions Cup Quarters

With two rounds left in the group stage of the European Championship Cup, we thought we would give our predictions on who we think we will see qualify for the quarter-finals of the competition.

The five pool winners and three best-placed runners-up in the pool phase will qualify for the next round of the competition, so it is clear to say that every log point on offer counts.

Here is how the Pools currently stand and who we believe will make it to the quarter-finals

Fixtures

12 Jan - Leinster vs Toulouse

12 Jan - Bath vs Wasps

20 Jan - Toulouse vs Bath

20 Jan - Wasps vs Leinster

Predictions

Toulouse and Leinster are our picks to make the quarter-finals – The two play each other this weekend and that outcome will most likely tell who will end first in the group. The Irish giants might steal this group under the Toulouse's nose, as French side’s don’t always travel well.

POOL 2:

Fixtures

11 Jan – Gloucester vs Munster

13 Jan – Exeter Chiefs vs Castres

19 Jan – Castres vs Gloucester

19 Jan – Munster vs Exeter Chiefs

Predictions

This group is tight and everyone has been able to take points off each other up until now. Munster is driving seat as they have only lost one match and for us, they are our pick to make it and also the only side make out the pool.

POOL 3:

Fixtures

13 Jan – Lyon vs Saracens

13 Jan – Glasgow Warriors vs Cardiff Blues

19 Jan – Saracens vs Glasgow Warriors

19 Jan – Cardiff Blues vs Lyon

Predictions

Saracens are currently unbeaten in the pool and are four points ahead of second place Glasgow. We expect the English side comfortably make the quarters and the Scottish side to be one of the best second place finishers in the group stage.

POOL 4:

Fixtures

12 Jan – Ulster Rugby vs Racing 92

12 Jan – Scarlets vs Leicester Tigers

19 Jan – Racing 92 vs Scarlets

19 Jan – Leicester Tigers vs Ulster Rugby

Predictions

French outfit Racing 92 have absolutely run away with the group and are almost dead certain to remain top of Pool 4 after the next two weeks. Irish side Ulster is in a healthy position at the moment with 14 points and one win could see them claim a spot in the next round.

POOL 5:

Fixtures

12 Jan – Montpellier vs Newcastle Falcons

12 Jan – Toulon vs Edinburgh

18 Jan – Newcastle Falcons vs Toulon

18 Jan – Edinburgh vs Montpellier

Predictions

This Pool is still wide open but it’s Edinburgh who have a slight advantage, they need to travel to France and face Toulon and then host second-place Montpellier at home. We think we could see a shift of power in this group and it’s Montpellier who we backing.

Our Picks:

Toulouse

Leinster

Munster

Saracens

Glasgow

Racing 92

Ulster

Montpellier
