On this day 9 years ago Munster were champions of Europe

9 years to the day, Munster made it third time lucky winning the European Cup after losing their two previous finals. They took on a Biarritz side who were also going for their first European Cup with Munster able to secure the Heineken Cup beating the French side 23-19 at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff. The Irish side did not get off to the best off starts with Sereli Bobo getting a try early on but they recovered from that early setback with the boot of Ronan O’Gara and tries from Trevor Halstead and Peter Stringer leading them to victory.
