Newport Gwent Dragons confirm departing players

Newport Dragons have confirmed that Nick Croswell, Darran Harris, Geraint Rhy Jones, Craig Mitchell and Tom Prydie have all departed the Region.

Nick Crosswell, a versatile back row, has made 56 appearances for the Dragons since joining from Manawatu Turbos in February 2015. Crosswell also played three seasons of Super Rugby winning the title in 2013/14 with the Chiefs. 

Hooker Darran Harris joined the Dragons at the start of the season from Rotherham Titans. Harris played 5 times for the Dragons this season featuring in the Guinness PRO12, European Rugby Challenge Cup and Anglo-Welsh Cup. 

Geraint Rhys Jones joined the Dragons in 2013 from the Scarlets. Jones had previously played for Wales U18, U19, U20 and the Wales 7’s Squad, where he featured in the 2010 Commonwealth Games. Jones has made 30 appearances for the Dragons, predominantly at Full Back, scoring 109 points.

Prop Forward Craig Mitchell joined the Dragons in 2016 from Cardiff Blues. He had previously won 15 caps for Wales, including during the 2011 and 2013 Six Nations Tournaments. He made 11 appearances for the Dragons through the season.


Tom Prydie joined the Dragons from the Ospreys in 2012. In his time Prydie had already become the youngest player to play for Wales when he faced Italy in the 2010 Six Nations aged 18 years and 25 days. He made has played 93 times for the Region featuring at both Full Back and on the Wing. Prydie has scored 16 tries and a total of 447 points.
