Newcastle failed to capitalise on their abundance of possession against Gloucester, and ultimately fell to a 29-7 defeat. Gloucester were extremely clinical in their opportunities, with Symons, Thrush and Purdy all crossing over in the first half. Falcons did manage to pull one back on the stroke of half time through Mark Wilson. However, Falcons struggled to break through Gloucester's 22, despite Twelvetrees spending 10 minutes in the bin. With just over 10 minutes left, Denman put the nail in the coffin with his BP try.
