The first semi final is set to take place on the 17th of November with a 14:30 kick off in Epsom College.
The Surrey based school looked strong in their quarterfinal clash against Blundell’s School, winning 29-7. This wasn’t the first strong performance after putting in a convincing 29-12 win over St John’s School in the second round. This team has and abundance of talented players, and a handful of London Irish representatives. Head coach of the team is ex Irish International Paul Burke who earned 13 caps for his country. Led by Captain Callum Torpey this team is a strong opposition for every team.
Bedford School has an exceedingly impressive history with regards to rugby. Having produced 18 internationals, its no wonder that Bedford School has links with Northampton Saints. With a credible 31-8 semi final win against Canford College their history is very much still being created. Before this satisfying win, they had a tough win over St Paul’s School 16-13. With James Hiskings at the helm of this team there’s no doubt we are in for a thrilling first semi final.
OAKHAM SCHOOL V TONBRIDGE SCHOOL
The second semi final to be played is on the 22nd of November in Oakham School.
Oakham have shown striking form as they have beaten their previous three opponents (Monmouth, Clifton and Berkhamsted) by over 12 points. Hence Oakham go into the second semi final as favourites and without doubt will try and exert their dominance over Tonbridge School. Head coach Andrew Rice and captain Fred Davis shall without question give one last push to get their team into the Final.
The Kent based school has a strong tradition around rugby; fielding twenty-five teams every weekend shows the schools dedication and love of the sport. Tonbridge 1XV beat a big Eton side in the quarter finals 18-10 and also with a 28-22 win against Hampton School under their belts, this team looks to shake off the title of underdog fast. Captain George Head has showed impressive form leading by example so far this season.
