Munster injury update ahead of Castres match

The Munster squad have started preparations at the HPC ahead of Friday’s Investec Champions Cup round 2 clash against Castres Olympique at Stade Pierre-Fabre (8pm Irish time, live on Premier Sports).

There are no fresh injury concerns following the weekend’s bonus-point win over Stade Francais with Calvin Nash and Shane Daly both passing their respective HIAs.

There is good news for Oli Jager (neck) and Dave Kilcoyne (ankle) as they both return to full team training with a view to return to play this week.

Jean Kleyn (neck) is progressing well with his return to play but remains unavailable.

Conor Murray is unavailable due to an elbow injury but is expected to return to play in the coming weeks.


Along with the 23 players in Champions Cup action on Saturday, there were 16 Munster players in AIL action at the weekend.

There were 10 senior and Academy players involved in the Munster derby between Garryowen and Cork Constitution at Dooradoyle.


Scott Buckley was a try-scorer for Cork Con with Danny Sheahan also featuring as they ran out 19-17 winners.

Brian Gleeson scored two tries for Garryowen as Dylan Hicks kicked both conversions and a penalty.

Jack Daly, Liam Coombes, Ronan Foxe, George Hadden, Jack Oliver and Gordon Wood also featured for Garryowen.

Tony Butler, Conor Bartley and Jake O’Riordan lined out for Young Munster in their narrow defeat to St Mary’s College in Dublin.

In Division 1B, Academy trio Ben O’Connor, Gene O’Leary Kareem and Seán Edogbo were in action for UCC as they were beaten by Blackrock College in Dublin.
