Mouth-watering Top 14 battle as La Rochelle take on Racing 92

A cracking encounter awaits fans of the French Top 14 in the opening game of the 14^th round as Racing 92 play host to La Rochelle.

The visitors are enjoying the summit of the overall standings with ten victories from thirteen outings and a total of 44 points to their name.

Closely behind them, though, are Toulouse and Racing on 42 and 41 respectively.

However, Racing do have a game in hand when compared with La Rochelle and Toulouse, making the top of the table a hotly contested place at the moment.

Round 13 saw La Rochelle travel to Stade Armandie and turn the screws on Agen, 43-13, in a one-sided match which emphasised the visitors’ strength in the competition.

Racing also emerged as winners in the last round after a valuable victory against Clermont at Stade Marcel Michelin. It was slender, two-point victory but also capped of Racing’s fourth win on the trot which will have put their confidence at a noteworthy elevation.

La Rochelle will have a serious bone to pick with their rivals after the last time the teams met – in Round 17 of the 2019-20 tournament – where Racing pulverised them 49-0.

All indications point to a very different kind of game looming on Saturday, however.
