Montpellier complete the signing of World Cup winning scrumhalf Cobus Reinach

Montpellier have confirmed the signing of World Cup-winning Springbok scrumhalf Cobus Reinach from the Northampton Saints.

Reinach will now link up with fellow World Cup winner Handre Pollard at the Top14 club adding to Montpellier's South African contingent that includes Bismarck du Plessis, Paul Willemse, Jan Serfontein, Johan Goosen and Jacques du Plessis.

The 30-year-old has penned a three year deal with the TOP14 club after spending the past three years at Premiership club Northampton Saints. 


During his time at Northampton, he scored a mammoth 31 tries for the club including 21 tries in the Premiership. During his time at Saints he also made more running metres, clean breaks and beat more defenders than any other scrumhalf.

His second Premiership season at the club saw him score 12 tries and finish the season as the joint top scorer and earned a recalled to the Springbok squad ahead of the 2019 Rugby Championship, his first appearance back in the squad since 2015.


He was also nominated for the Premiership player of the season and scored a try on his first appearance back in Green and Gold as the Springboks won the Rugby Championship and Reinach earned a spot in the Rugby World Cup squad.

He came off the bench in the comprehensive win over Namibia at the World Cup before going on to start against Canada where he scored a hat-trick in a 66-7 win over Canada at the 2019 Rugby World Cup, the fastest hat-trick in Rugby World Cup History, he took only 11 minutes to dot down three tries.

He finished the World Cup with 14 test caps, 9 starts and 6 tries.
