Mitre 10 Cup Top Performers - North Harbour vs Northland
- 1660
The 2018 Mitre 10 Cup 2018 is well and truely underway with the opening game turning out to be a thriller which was won by the narrowest of margins by the Premiership side, North Harbour. A few household names make the top performers list:
Rene Ranger - Northland:
Ranger was in fine form as he set the game on fire a number of times showing his class and setting up the opening try following a great break from deep. He nearly took his team to an unlikely win.
Shaun Stevenson - North Harbour:
Stevenson was a constant threat from fullback and he made a number of runs on the day but contributed with a few good reads on defence too.
He also threw a great dummy before sidestepping his way through the Northland defence and putting Tevita Li away.
Tom Robinson - Northland:
Big Red had a day filled with highs and lows, he grabbed the first try of the season with some good support running off Ranger's break but also spent 10 minutes in the bin for being offsides. Son of a former All Black, the lock with the red mane of hair is one to watch.
Bryn Hall - North Harbour:
One of the rather unlucky players not to be in the All Black squad, Hall did not let that disappointment affect his game as he was up to his usual high-quality play as he helped North Harbour to the 1 point win. His decision making and support around the park is a huge asset for the North Harbour side, as too was his accurate boot.
