Otago were the favourites coming into the match but taking a look at the first half wouldn't have revealed this. Southland didn't allow Otago to get too far ahead at the halftime with a score of 17-3 proving so. Otago's biggest downfall was definitely their handling errors as they conceded many that stopped them from scoring crucial tries. Otago will be happy with the win but still have a lot to improve on as they continue the Mitre 10 Cup. Southland will need to go back to the drawing board in order to improve their performance for the season to come. Otago take the win 41-22!
