Mike Ford gives Sam Burgess backing

Mike Ford, the Bath head coach, believes that Sam Burgess’s cross-code
conversion has begun to show signs of bearing fruit in recent weeks and the
player’s leadership skills will come to the fore during England’s World Cup
preparations.



Burgess is expected to be included by Stuart Lancaster, the England head
coach, in an extended World Cup training squad tomorrow and, although there
may be differences of opinion over his best position, Ford believes that
Burgess will prove an asset wherever he plays.
