Middleton handed top England women's job

Simon Middleton has been appointed as England Women's new head coach and will combine that role with his current post of overseeing the Sevens programme.

Middleton steps into the void left by Gary Street and the Rugby Football Union has decided to merge the posts of head coach of the women's XV and Sevens sides into one.

He will have three coaches reporting to him who will be appointed in due course.

One will be lead coach of the XVs and another will act as assistant coach.

Susie Appleby will continue in her consultancy role as the Sevens' assistant coach.
