The struggling Blues have failed in their bid to lure Crusaders assistant coach Tabai Matson north to Auckland.
Matson, who confirmed that he has had 'discussions' with the Blues, said he "remains committed to Crusaders".
The 42-year-old Matson, who played 10 games for the All Blacks but was never capped in a Test, said he wanted nothing more than to help the Crusaders towards the play-offs this season.
He added he was "sorry" about any unnecessary distraction that the speculation around his future has caused.
