Match Report: Connacht 5-41 Glasgow Warriors

Connacht 5-41 Glasgow Warriors

Connacht's PRO12 title defence hasn't got off to the start that they would have wanted after a long afternoon at the Sportsground. Glasgow looked like the fresher side right from the off with execusion of the highest order in everything they did. Connacht's poor pre-season preparations could be an excuse for their sloppy start and fatigued performance.

The first half was an even affair with both sides getting on the score sheet even though Glasgow looked the more exciting side in attack. Adeolokun continued his impressive try scoring form from last season but Seymour's double stole the show in the first half. A late dangerous tackle on Connacht's Jack Carty by Ryan Wilson resulted in the Scottish side being reduced to 14 men for a 10 minute period but Connacht couldn't make the most of the one man advantage.

Glasgow pulled away in the second half and gave Connacht no chance with 5 tries without response. Connacht looked deranged and fatigued in defence as the second half progressed and series of subsititions took the pace out of the game. Stuart Hogg stock has surely risen for a place in next year's Lions squad with an impressive performance in attack for Glasgow. A slow paced final quarter to the game with the result no longer in question is not how Connacht imaged this day.
