Manu Tuilagi injury setback leaves England sweating

Hopes of Manu Tuilagi returning to duty for Leicester this season have been dashed by the groin injury that has ravaged his campaign.

Tuilagi, 23, had endured the frustration of return targets in December, January and February being missed and Richard Cockerill, Leicester’s director of rugby, has now confirmed the centre will not play again this season because of the injury sustained against Ulster last October.

Cockerill said the expectation now was that Tuilagi, who has 25 caps, would be fit to join England’s World Cup training camp in early June.
