With the culture he has created within the England squad it would have been an easy decision for Stuart Lancaster to tell Manu Tuilagi that he will be taking no part in the Rugby World Cup because of his conviction for assault and criminal damage.
It was certainly a shock when I discovered this on Friday but my immediate reaction upon reading the comments made by Lancaster and Leicester was that the correct path had been taken, in all respects.
A strong stance had been taken, and a strong message sent out.
