Lloyd Back in Brumbies Fold

Lloyd Back in Brumbies Fold

Prop forward Harry Lloyd has signed a two-year contract with the Plus500 Brumbies ahead of the 2020 Super Rugby season to make a welcome return to the national Capital following a stint with Western Force.

Lloyd made the move to Perth in 2018 after captaining his local side, Western District Lions, to the 2017 Griffin Legal John I Dent Cup Final.

No stranger to top level rugby in the ACT, Lloyd made ten appearances for the Canberra Vikings in the National Rugby Championship and the highly-regarded prop is looking forward to coming back to Canberra to the club where he was part of the original Academy in-take upon its relaunch in 2017.

“I am very excited about moving back to Canberra and joining the Brumbies for the Super Rugby season,” Lloyd said.

“Being a local Canberra boy, I went to school at St. Edmunds College, it’s great to get the chance to join the Brumbies Super Rugby squad is a dream come true. I have enjoyed my two seasons with the Western Force, playing some exciting rugby, and have learned a lot as a player.

“There is an extremely exciting young group of players at the Brumbies, many of whom I know from club football, and I am thoroughly looking forward to the commencement of training and playing my part to the full.”

Brumbies coach Dan McKellar was pleased to add Lloyd to his young group. “We’re delighted to have Harry return to the Brumbies,” McKellar said.

“He’s someone who has been in our Academy Program and come through our Pathways system over a number of years. We always said that when the time was right, we would look to get Harry back to the Brumbies.

“Harry is a very mobile prop with good work rate that is well complemented by very good set piece. We are confident that with another good pre-season under his belt Harry will be ready to step up to Super Rugby when called upon.”
