Leigh Halfpenny to miss RWC through injury

The Welsh Rugby Union have confirmed that Leigh Halfpenny has ruptured his knee ligaments and will be out for at least six months which will see him miss the World Cup.

L’Equipe earlier reported that the WRU had informed Toulon their star full-back is expected to be out of action until March.

Halfpenny appeared to turn awkwardly and twist his knee in the 70th minute of his side's narrow win over Italy on Saturday.

There have been no further updates on the fitness of scrum half Rhys Webb who also picked up an injury during the win.
