Leigh Halfpenny Set To Join PRO12 Champions

According to The Times, Leigh Halfpenny is set to join West-Wales region Scarlets on a deal partly funded by the Welsh Rugby Union.

The British & Irish Lions full-back was rather surprisingly released by French TOP14 giants Toulon over the summer after four seasons with the club.

The future of the 75-times capped international has been subject to intense speculation over the last few weeks with Wasps and Bath among the host of top clubs distancing themselves from a potential transfer.

With Liam Williams departing the region to join Champions Cup winners Saracens for the 2017-18 season, Scarlets have a void to fill in their exciting back-line. Halfpenny is expected to be awarded a national-dual contract, which would see 60% of his salary paid by the WRU & the remaining 40% provided by the club.
