Lane commits to Bears

Experienced full back Rich Lane has agreed a new contract with Bristol Bears for the 2024/25 campaign, the club can confirm.

Lane scored four tries for the Bears in the 2023/24 Gallagher Premiership season, including a hat-trick against Exeter Chiefs at Sandy Park and a memorable try to seal an emphatic derby victory over Bath at Ashton Gate.

The former Bedford Blues man, who joined the Bears permanently in May 2022 following an impressive loan spell, has made 34 appearances for the club.

Director of Rugby, Pat Lam, said: “Laner is an experienced and accomplished full back with excellent game understanding and leadership. His ability to also play as a left footed left wing gives us real depth and versatility in our back three.

“Since arriving from Bedford, he has grown and developed his game and delivered some impressive performances for the Bears. We’re pleased that he’ll continue to improve his game with the club.”

Lane said: “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time with the Bears and I’m very pleased to have extended my stay with the club. After such a strong finish to last season, I’m excited by what we can achieve in 2024/25 and looking forward to contributing to our team goals.”
