Lachie Anderson Re-Signs with Reds for 2027

The Queensland Rugby Union is delighted to announce the re-signing of polished winger Lachie Anderson for 2027.

Anderson, 28, has been a powerful, productive finisher for the Queensland Reds for two seasons and is eager to extend his time with the club.

That includes his stunning four-try haul last season against the Fijian Drua, who he will line-up against again at Suncorp Stadium on Friday night.

That record haul for a Reds player In the 30-year professional era of Super Rugby is a feature of a resume which reads 11 tries in 27 appearances for the Reds.

“The locker room we have is a big factor in wanting to stay at the Reds,” said Anderson, Queensland player #1399.

“It’s a great group of boys, tight on the field and also off it.

“The depth in the squad has definitely grown in my time at the club. Seeing so many players re-sign shows the strong belief that is shared about the Reds and what we can achieve this season and into the future.”

Anderson arrived at the Reds in 2024 after 35 Super Rugby appearances for the Melbourne Rebels and a career in rugby sevens which culminated in competing at the Tokyo Olympics.

“The environment at the Reds has encouraged personal growth and the development of my rugby in a top team,” Anderson said.

“For me, it's about chasing consistency, growth and doing the full 80 minutes well.

“It’s funny. Years ago, I spoke to Les Kiss when he was at London Irish and I’ve ended up playing under him as a coach at the Reds.

“Les has been very encouraging around players being themselves. On top of that is how committed Les, Brad (Davis), ‘Choc’ (Zane Hilton) and ‘Fish’ (Jonathan Fisher) have been as a coaching group to keep us improving.”

Anderson sees the international program so actively advocated by the QRU, to create more playing opportunities for the Reds, as a major positive.

“The Reds are at the forefront of Super Rugby in creating these opportunities. They remind you that rugby is a worldwide game and it’s great incentive,” Anderson added.

“At the back end of this year, there is a great development opportunity for players with games in Japan and Italy.”

For the Reds, Anderson has played in Tonga (twice), against Bristol in England, played Wales and the British & Irish Lions and against the Saitama Panasonic Wild Knights in matches outside Super Rugby.
