Jimmy Gopperth to join Provence
- 1990
Provence Rugby announces the arrival of Jimmy Gopperth from the Leicester Tigers on a one-season deal.
Gopperth, who has played about twenty games this season - including the semi-final against Sale as a starter - played three finals of the New Zealand provincial championship, a Super Rugby final, two finals of the English championship and was elected best player of the season in 2017.
The 39-year old, who is the fourth highest scorer in Premiership history, made 13 league appearances for Tigers after joining from Wasps last summer.
Gopperth insisted that he was keen to play on rather than retire.
“I still feel fit and healthy, I still have a lot to give. I will play next season. I’m looking at options. I’m always excited to play. Every team needs experience.”
