Experienced back-row James Chisholm has signed a new contract with Harlequins ahead of the 2024/25 Gallagher Premiership season.
The Academy graduate, who has 149 appearances and 19 tries, has put pen to paper on a fresh deal to take him into his 12th season in Quins colours.
Comfortable across flanker and number eight, Chisholm joined the Senior Academy in 2013 before earning his first-team debut in the LV=Cup fixture against Exeter Chiefs later that year.
He has since become a regular starter in the Quarters, winning back-to-back DHL Player of the Season awards in 2016/17 and 2017/18, before earning his 100th appearance against Munster in 2020. He also played a key role in the 2020/21 Gallagher Premiership title, scoring a try in the famous 36-43 semi-final win over Bristol Bears.
At age-grade rugby, Chisholm captained England U18 in 2013 and was named the World Rugby U20 Championship Player of the Year in 2015, helping England U20 claim the Six Nations title and the Junior World Championship.
Upon signing his new contract, Chisholm said: “It’s a very exciting time to be a Quin. This season has been very enjoyable, we’ve had some special memories, and the energy amongst the squad is incredibly exciting. We’re building something special, and I can’t wait to embark on the next chapter of my career, playing in front of the best fans in the league, and achieving more memories together.”
Director of Rugby Billy Millard commented: “Chis is a highly respected member of our squad, he’s a fantastic leader and demonstrates the Quins DNA through his hard work and determination to succeed. We love having Chis in our squad, he’s a terrific character but also a very important player who continues to work exceptionally hard to improve his game.”
