Slipped up at the line-out at a crucial stage early in second half as Japan piled on pressure.
3. Tadgh Furlong - 5
Failed to make a greater impact than last week.
4. Iain Henderson - 5
Made all his 12 tackles but going forward didn't make too much of an impact.
5. James Ryan - 6
Was out on his feet at the end, a good effort.
6. Peter O'Mahony - 5
Hauled off, looked very lethargic but did manage to win a turnover for his side.
7. Josh van der Flier - 7
Line speed was excellent, good in defence.
8. CJ Stander - 4
Was matched and out-played by the Japanese back row.
9. Conor Murray - 5
Some nice kicks to put Ireland under pressure but failed to control the tempo of the game. Gave a penalty away right in front of the posts to put Japan 7 ahead with 8 minutes to go.

Excellent first half, some great kicks to setup 2 Ireland scores. Taken off early in the second half.

A couple of carries but failed to influence the game.

Superb effort in defence making 15 tackles and carried strong.

Took his try well and had a couple of breaks in the first half.

Superb try saving tackle at the end to help Ireland hold on to a losing bonus point. Never looked dangerous going forward.

Got Ireland's first try of the game, a tough and tight finish. Some nice kicks and carries.
