Ireland’s Six Nations Return To Be Played Behind Closed Doors

Ireland’s Six Nations Return To Be Played Behind Closed Doors

The IRFU have confirmed that, in accordance with the Government of Ireland rules in relation to the Covid-19 pandemic, Ireland’s Guinness Six Nations and Women’s Six Nations matches against Italy on Saturday, October 24th, will be closed to the public.

Both matches will be live on TV with the Ireland Men kick off at 3.30 pm against Italy at Aviva Stadium in Guinness Six Nations with the game live on Virgin Media and RTÉ Radio.

With four matches to go, four teams can still win the Six Nations with Ireland needing to win both of their remaining matches with bonus points.

Ireland head into the resumption of the competition in fourth in the table on nine points but if they can bag all ten on offer to them in the remaining two matches, no-one can stop them.

However, they will need to do this without the services of Jordan Larmour who has been ruled out of the Six Nations restart and the Autumn Nations Cup, after suffering a dislocated shoulder in Leinster’s weekend win over Benetton.

Fellow Ireland internationals Johnny Sexton, Rónan Kelleher and Andrew Porter are all set to be assessed by the IRFU medical team this week after time on the sidelines, while Ryan Baird will stay with Leinster after suffering an abductor injury against Benetton.

Finally, Iain Henderson will also be unavailable to Andy Farrell after he was handed a three-match suspension.
