How things stand after Round 7 of Super Rugby Aotearoa

The talk of Round 7 was undoubtedly the Hurricanes 34-32 surprise win over the Crusaders in Christchurch while the Blues managed to stem the tide of a late onslaught by the Chiefs to emerge as 21-17 victors.

The Hurricanes’ victory has opened the competition wide up with both the Blues and Hurricanes now challenging for top spot.

The Crusaders still lead the table with 19 points, however, the Blues now find themselves only two behind on 17 while the ‘Canes are theoretically only one victory away from going top as they currently hold 16 points.

The Highlanders, on 10 points, enjoyed a bye this Round after a fantastic victory over the Chiefs last weekend.

The Chiefs are struggling in the competition, having yet to post a win, and are now playing for pride with no hope of hoisting the trophy.

In Round 8, the Crusaders will look to get back to winning ways when they travel to Hamilton to take on the Chiefs while the Highlanders will host the Blues.
