Australia come away with a convincing victory over the hosts on a scoreline of 5 tries to 4, which probably flattered the Irish to an extent. Australia played a very simple gameplan which was effective against the Irish. They used their forwards to get over the gainline time and time again and the Irish defence just had no answer.
Australian try-scorers on the day were Williams, Riordan, Samoa, Boyle and Murphy. Ireland got over through Egan, Miller, Spence and Fitzpatrick.
