HIGHLIGHTS: France vs Argentina - Rugby World Cup 2019

France edged Argentina 23-21 in a thrilling Pool C encounter in the opening round of the Rugby World Cup. Argentina opened the scoring with an early penalty, but France responded in fine fashion, crossing for two tries to lead 14-3. The French would keep the scoreboard ticking over, slotting two penalties to take a comfortable 20-3 advantage into the halftime break. Argentina got right back into the match with a try at the start of the second half to trail by ten points. Momentum was with the Argentines, who crossed for another try before adding a penalty to head into the final quarter trailing just 20-18. A penalty with a little over ten minutes to play saw Argentina overturn the 17 point deficit to take the lead 21-20. The lead did not last long however, as a French drop goal a minute later saw them back in front. The French missed a penalty with three minutes to go, with Argentina awarded a long range penalty with a minute to play. The attempt had the distance but not the direction as France survived the Argentina fight back to hold on for a slender victory.
