Highlanders' Kane Hames suspended for five weeks

Highlanders' prop Kane Hames has been suspended for five weeks after he was found guilty of striking an opposition player during the Highlanders' loss to the Crusaders on Saturday night.

Hames was cited after he struck Crusaders' lock Dominic Bird in the 74th minute and pleaded guilty to the offence and was found in the mid-range entry point which stipulates a five-week suspension.

Hames will be sidelined until round 8 when the Highlanders take on the Rebels in Dunedin.
