Head to head: Ma'a Nonu vs Wesley Fofana
One of the key head to heads to analyse ahead of the RWC Quarter-Final between New Zealand and France, is the battle of the centres Ma'a Nonu and Wesley Fofana.
Both of these no. 12's have been outstanding so far in this World Cup and they will be expected to stand out later today in the crucial fixture. If we are to go by the stats of their performances in this competition, Nonu is the clear favourite in this clash.
These centres both play a very different style of rugby, with Nonu looking to break through tackles with his shear strength, while Fofana looks to use his superior pace to break the gain line. So far in this tournament, Nonu has broken a massive 17 tackles and tallied 79 metres in attack, while Fofana has broken just 2, with 53 metres gained.
In defense, Ma'a Nonu can provide a lot more than Wesley Fofana, with the All Black making 12 tackles vs. the Frenchman's 9 so far in this World Cup. This could become a deciding factor in who edges this fixture.
