ON-FIELD REACTION
Allister Coetzee, head coach
On what happened in the second half:
“Uruguay took control of the game but that is test match rugby when you concede 12 penalties and three cards, it is very difficult. That starts at set-piece and scrum time.
“These are things that cost you in test rugby. There is nothing you can do – you can’t hide about it if you are not up to it. But I must commend the team for playing until the end. Defensively there were errors in technique in being too upright.
“It is quite difficult to swallow but in the end Uruguay deserved to win.”
On where Namibia go from here:
“We have got to make sure we build now at the set-piece, give our front rankers a programme where these blokes and the youngsters can develop.
“We are a small country with not a lot of depth so we need a high performance plan to be put in place for these guys. That is the next step after this World Cup, so that we can identify those players.
“I must say this World Cup has been spectacular and the team have learnt a hell of a lot. Thank you to the French crowds – they have been unbelievable.”
Tjiuee Uanivi, captain
On what happened in the second half:
“I think it is quite obvious. Our discipline let us down. To get two yellow cards and then a red makes it very hard. Our discipline at the end of the day cost us.
“We lost the game but I am very proud of the boys. I know they left it all out there. Apart from the discipline issue, I am super proud of them.”
