Harlequins Women quartet re-sign

Harlequins Women is delighted to announce that Ella Amory, Geo Comerford, Nicole Wythe and Hannah Smith have all re-signed with the Club ahead of the 2022/23 season.

Dynamic back Ella Amory will begin her fourth season in South West London after joining the Club in the summer of 2019. Amory featured thirteen times in the Famous Quarters last season scoring twice along the way. The Belgium international also ran out at the HSBC World Sevens Series in Seville for her nation.

Winger Geo Comerford has also put pen to paper on a new deal at Quins after re-joining the Club last season from Richmond RFC. After suffering a long-term ACL injury during a training session last winter, Comerford will be looking to get back on the pitch later this year.

Ella Amory said: “As a player and person I pride myself on my work ethic and resilience. For the past three seasons the Club has helped me a lot in those areas by supporting me and giving me the opportunity to take ownership of my preparation.

“The set-up is amazing and I’m grateful to be training with elite players on a daily basis. The environment is competitive and it’s pushing me to want more. I’m delighted to be staying another year. #COYQ!”

Comerford added: I’m super excited to be spending another season with Harlequins.

I am really looking forward to returning from ACL injury and building as a squad with my personal aim to bring more strength and depth to our back line and comeback stronger.”

Young forwards Hannah Smith and Nicole Wythe have both come through Quins’ Centre of Excellence programme with Smith making her debut in the Allianz Cup semi-final last campaign against Worcester Warriors.

After signing a new deal, Smith said: I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to re-sign with Quins, the set up and ethos of the club is second to none, and creates an environment that younger players such as myself can thrive and develop in.

“I’m looking forward to next season I am going to be working hard and learning from the coaching staff and my teammates to hopefully secure a regular place in the starting line-up.”

Prop Wythe will be targeting a  Quins debut and is looking forward to the season ahead. Wythe commented: “I feel really blessed having the opportunity to continue my journey with Harlequins Women. I really enjoy the competitive training environment and I can’t wait to be further stretched and challenged this season.

“My main goals for the season are to get my debut and to well establish myself as a tighthead at the club. I’m itching for pre-season to start and can’t wait to be back training with the girls!”
