Guillaume Piazzoli suspended for 20 weeks
- 513
Perhaps the longest suspension of the year in French professional rugby. Provence Rugby's third-line flanker Guillaume Piazzoli has been handed a 19-week suspension following his red card received against Dax during Matchday 21 of ProD2. The flanker had violently struck the back of the head of Dax fly-half Romuald Séguy with his knee while he was on the ground. The disciplinary committee found the player guilty of "Brutality" ("Striking with the knee") and assessed it at a high degree of severity, resulting in a 20-week suspension. The sanction was increased by 2 weeks due to his disciplinary record (10-week suspension in autumn 2025 for a red card against Biarritz for a kick to the face of a Biarritz player on the ground), then reduced by 3 weeks due to mitigating circumstances (expression of remorse, acknowledgment of guilt, and conduct before and during the hearing). Guillaume Piazzoli's season is thus over unless he appeals the decision.
