Gloucester and Newcastle to battle it out at Kingston Park
- 1029
Narrow losers from Round 5, Gloucester, will travel to Kingston Park where Newcastle Falcons lie in wait.
The Falcons were unable to get the result in Round 5, succumbing to a 12-point defeat against the strong Bristol Bears outfit. It was their first actual loss of the season after a fantastic start which saw them take the scalps of Bath, Sale and then Wasps in three consecutive rounds.
Their Round 4 clash with Leicester Tigers was abandoned due to Covid. Nevertheless, they have succeeded in turning many heads since their ascension into the Premiership.
Gloucester were just three minutes away from victory against Sale last weekend before Josh Beaumont broke Cherry & White hearts as he crashed over to seal victory for his side.
It was a game played in cold and challenging conditions that Gloucester were actually expected to take. Their disappointment and regret over it may well manifest itself in steely resolve come kick-off this weekend which the Falcons will have to be mindful of.
Newcastle’s fantastic start has earned them fifth place on the standings where they share overall points with Wasps (14) while Gloucester are languishing second from the bottom of the table after having posted only one victory.
