Jack Lam confirmed as Bristol Rugby captain

Bristol have confirmed Jack Lam as the 2016/17 first team captain.

“Jack assumes an important role within the squad – it’s a position I was keen for him to take on,” Director of Rugby Andy Robinson said.

“Jack is a player that always leads by example on the field and lifts the performances of the players around him. He’s diligent and professional in his preparation and a positive role model for the group."

Lam has made thirty appearances for the Club in two seasons, scoring seventeen tries, and takes on the leadership duties from fellow Samoan international David Lemi.

Faletau and Fotuali’i to make first Bath Rugby appearances

New Bath Rugby signings Taulupe Faletau and Kahn Fotuali’i will make their first appearance for the Club in the pre-season friendly against Scarlets this Saturday in Eirias Park, with fellow newcomer Luke Charteris named on the bench.

Finlay extends contract to 2019

Connacht has today announced the contract extension of Ireland international Finlay Bealham.

The 24-year-old prop, who was first capped for Ireland in this year’s 6 Nations, has signed a new contract that will see him play at the Sportsground until at least the summer of 2019.

Rebels sign Welsh international

Rebels have added Welsh international Dominic Day to the second row for the 2017 Super Rugby season.

The 30-year-old has signed a one year deal which will see him join the Rebels after a ten-year career in the Pro12 (Europe), England Premiership (England) and Top League (Japan).

Dominic made three international appearances since his Test debut against Ireland at Millennium Stadium in August 2015 and featured for Wales at the 2015 Rugby World Cup.

Dave Rennie to replace Gregor Townsend as head coach

Scottish Rugby has appointed Chiefs coach Dave Rennie as the new Head Coach of Glasgow Warriors from the beginning of the 2017/18 season.

Rennie joined the Chiefs in 2012 and won two Super Rugby titles in his first two seasons, including become the first first-year coach to win a Super Rugby title since 2000.

The 52 year-old will replace Gregor Townsend in the Glasgow role in a two-year deal, when he becomes Scotland’s national head coach at the start of the 2017/18 season.
