France name team to face Scotland in the 6 Nations
- 1034
For the trip to Scotland, the French national team coach has named the same starting lineup as in the opening match against Ireland. Thomas Ramos retains his key role in the backline. Valuable with his kicking game as well as his attacking runs, he embodies the ability to alternate between tactical control and bold play. On the wings, Louis Bielle-Biarrey's speed and instinct support a backline capable of attacking from anywhere.
In the centers, the Depoortere-Moefana pairing returns after being sidelined with an injury. The half-back pairing also remains unchanged from the first match: Matthieu Jalibert, a last-minute withdrawal against Italy, returns at fly-half alongside the ever-present Antoine Dupont at scrum-half. Their partnership, capable of alternating between a fast tempo and tactical kicking, embodies the balance sought by the coaching staff. Dupont, the playmaker and constant catalyst, will set the pace; Jalibert will be responsible for directing the game and punishing any opposition errors.
In the back row, the trio of Jelonch, Jegou, and Cros remains unchanged. A solid, hardworking combination, capable of handling the less glamorous tasks and making an impact in the thick of the action. In the second row, Mickaël Guillard continues alongside Charles Ollivon, as he did in the first match. Their partnership provides both physicality and mobility, with the ability to be a force in the tackle while remaining involved in open play.
Up front, the Aldegheri–Marchand–Gros front row remains unchanged. Stability in the scrum, experience, ability to string together phases: the coaching staff is banking on what they know they have.
