France keep pressure on England with big win
France powered past Japan to keep the pressure on England in Pool A with seven tries during Saturday’s game, with coach Olivier Magne praising the opposition.
Outside centre Pierre Fouyssac crossed for two late tries as five other players got in on the act in Parma.
Admitting that his side struggled in the first half, Magne was pleased with how the side turns things around but conceded that a number of injuries may give France some problems before facing England this Wednesday.
France trail England by just a point in Pool A and will have to defeat their rivals to top the group overall in the final pool game, as look to improve on the best finish in the tournament of 4th in 2011.
"We had a very good second half because the first half was very hard for us, it was tough team in front of us, they played a very good match and it was good for us to score lot of tries in the second half like that," said Magne.
"We are still in the race but it will be a quarter-final next match against England. We have a lot of injuries so will be difficult for us to have our best team against England, so we will see.”
