Former Wallaby Toutai Kefu seriously wounded in home invasion

Rugby World Cup winner and Tonga coach Toutai Kefu is undergoing surgery after being stabbed by intruders along with his family at his Brisbane home.
The 47-year-old, who played 60 Tests for the Wallabies around the turn of the century, was taken to hospital with three other members of his household after the incident in the south of the city, the Australian Broadcasting Corp (ABC) reported.
His wife reportedly suffered a significant arm injury, while his son had lacerations to his back and his daughter’s hand was injured.

“The four injured residents were transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital (in Brisbane) for treatment,” police said in a statement.
“A man in his 40s has serious injuries.”

Det Supt Tony Fleming told reporters on Monday the family was awoken by noises in the house about 3am on Monday and that Kefu had gone to investigate.
“That person was accosted by at least one of the offenders in the premises and threatened to be stabbed if they didn’t hand over vehicle keys,” Fleming said.
“Other members of the family came to that person’s aid and during this time very significant injuries occurred to the family.”
