Fiji out-half joins Melbourne Rebels

Fiji international out-half Ben Volavola has signed a one-year contract with the Melbourne Rebels.

Volavola is joining following an unsuccessful stint in New Zealand with the Crusaders.

The 25-year-old struggled to secure regular playing time in Christchurch, where local lad Richie Mo'unga was selected ahead of him.

I'm grateful for the opportunity to continue my career in Melbourne," said Volavola.

"I'm excited by the chance to grow my game at a club that has a great record for nurturing and developing elite players under head coach Tony McGahan."

Sydney-born Volavola, who also played provincial rugby for Canterbury, had signed a two-year contract with the Crusaders but was released late last year.
