The Exeter Chiefs were crowned European Champions Cup winners with a thrilling 31-27 victory over Racing 92 in the Final. Exeter got off to a dream start and crossed for two early tries to lead 14-0 after 17 minutes. Racing hit back midway through the first half with a try and ran in a second ten minutes later to reduce the deficit to just two points at 14-12 after 32 minutes. However, the Exeter Chiefs would have the final say of the first half, as they went over for their third score with the final play to take a 21-12 advantage into the halftime break. The opening ten minutes of the second half was a crazy period as Racing scored an early try, with Exeter responding almost immediately with their fourth. The sea-saw battle continued as shortly after Racing were in again with a try to trail 28-24 with half an hour to play. Racing made it a one point ball game with a penalty to set up an intense final 15 minutes of the match. Exeter were reduced to 14 players after picking up a yellow card with nine minutes remaining. A Racing onslaught followed as they piled on the pressure, hammering away at the Exeter line, but the Chiefs held firm with some outstanding defence. Exeter managed to work it downfield and were awarded a penalty in the final minute which they slotted to seal their first ever European Champions Cup Title.
