Emily Scarratt supplies inspiration in drive to break down barriers


Emily Scarratt embodied the ethos of “This girl can” long before UK Sport
launched its successful campaign.

Stubborn and determined, she always
refused to accept the “old school mentality” that rugby was a sport to be
played by the boys.



It was not just the negative perceptions Scarratt had to overcome.

Rugby was
not available to her at school and once she had graduated from mixed teams
at the age of 13 her only option was to turn out for the under-18 girls at
her local club, Leicester Forest East.
