Elton Jantjies heads to the Top 14

Springbok and Lions flyhalf Elton Jantjies has reportedly signed a new agreement which will see him team up with French Top 14 side Pau as a medical joker.

The loan deal is largely so that Jantjies – who is expected to take the starting number 10 role for the Springboks in the absence of the injured Handre Pollard – can enjoy some top level competition before the British & Irish Lions series commences in July.

The Lions released the following statement:

“Upon request from Elton Jantjies and in conjunction with SA Rugby, Lions Rugby Company has released the player for an opportunity as a medical joker with French club Pau in preparation for the British & Irish Lions.


“LRC and SA Rugby are in communication with Elton post the opportunity granted.”
