Elliot Dixon sidelined for three to four months

Elliot Dixon will undergo surgery on Tuesday to repair a torn bicep and is expected to be sidelined for three or four months.

The Highlanders loose forward suffered the injury while playing in the Southland Stags' Mitre 10 Cup game against Manawatu a fortnight ago.

He initially thought he had picked up an annoying hematoma to his bicep and played on during the remainder of the game.

The All Black was sore afterwards but didn't think too much of it at the time. However, he noticed his bicep was a little deformed and when the Stags medical staff checked it out they sent him for scans.

It was determined he had in fact torn his bicep and 10 days after picking up the injury he will go under the knife.

The expected three to four month recovery time should mean he will be back in time for the Highlanders' pre-season fixtures in the lead up to the 2018 Super Rugby season.
